We are currently seeking a Trainee Setting-Out Engineer to join our growing team. The role will predominantly involve assisting our Senior Setting-Out Engineer out in the field most days on a variety of sites, followed by time spent drawing up using AutoCAD in the office. The time on spent on site will be fast paced and involve large amounts walking and transporting equipment in all weather conditions across a variety of terrain.

The ideal candidate will have experience in surveying and/or setting-out and will be competent is using AutoCAD. Experience of using surveying equipment such as Robotic Total Stations, GNSS, Theodolites is desirable. In-house training will be provided, with the opportunity of furthering their education and professional accreditations such as memberships with the CICES and RICS. A CSCS card is desirable, however, not essential. A full UK driving licence is a necessity.

Plandescil is a Consulting Engineers practice based in Attleborough, Norfolk, offering services in Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering, and Land Surveying. We produce design in the form of drawings and calculation packages, undertake various surveys and compose numerous reports for a range of clients. Our aim is to provide ‘cost effective engineering solutions’ to our clients, we strive to achieve this by keeping up-to-date with current technologies within our market place.

Training our staff to their full potential is extremely important to us. With the National shortage of Engineers, we have taken many students from school and seen them through to their professional qualifications. We have loyal staff, many of whom have remained with Plandescil throughout their working life, enjoying the challenging and varied workload we undertake. We endeavour to enrol our apprentices on appropriate Civil Engineering courses.

In July 2016, ownership of Plandescil transferred to an employee owned trust. The new structure provides a voice for all members of staff to have a say in the business and continue to take pride in working for a forward-thinking company rooted in traditional family values.
