We are proud to have been named City College Norwich’s Apprenticeship Employer of the Year in the Small to Medium Category (10-250 staff). We have seen a high percentage of our staff through their academic qualifications, from BTEC’s to Degrees, many of which have been in partnership with City College Norwich (CCN). Many of our staff have joined Plandescil upon completion of their GCSE’s, A-Levels or similar and we have facilitated furthering their education while working with us.

Our Olly Jones, the Director responsible for Plandescil’s apprentices, collected the award at last night’s Apprentice Awards Evening at the International Aviation Academy Norwich. Olly Jones started at Plandescil as an apprentice in 2006 with three A-Levels and continued his education with us until he achieved an Honours Degree in Civil Engineering. Olly is now a Director at Plandescil specialising in Anaerobic Digestion Projects and Renewable Energy Plants, overseeing the Design, Tender, Construction and Project Management of a range of projects. Olly is responsible for a team of 7 staff members at various levels of their education and will ensure they complete their courses to the best of their ability.

Plandescil currently employ 8 apprentices that attend City College Norwich on a variety of courses at different levels. We have found working alongside CCN to train our staff a positive experience; the lecturers monitor the progress of our apprentices and come to our offices for regular meetings with their mentors. The College recently invited our mentors to a training day where they learnt how to communicate effectively with apprentices and provide them with the skills they need – our mentors have found this information invaluable. We hope to continue to work alongside CCN for the foreseeable future to carry on providing our staff with the necessary training to achieve their goals within our Company.
